Preyta Item Build
Core Items
These items are necessary in order to play Preyta optimally. Only diverge from a core item if you are a very experienced player or you have a very good reason for doing so.
Orb of the Magi | Orb of the Magi is a great starter item for mages, offering damage, health, and mana in large amounts. It grows stronger as the game goes on and therefore is best taken early. It additionally heals the wielder whenever they level up, making it a great way to recover from trades and restore the mana lost from harassing the enemy. |
Hecate’s Diadem | When it comes to ability power, nothing is able to provide as much as Hecate’s Diadem. Not only does it offer large amounts on its own, but Hecate’s Diadem amplifies the amount of ability power that other items provide as well. |
Optional Items
Zweihander | Zweihander increases the amount of damage Preyta does with normal attacks. This is a perfect fit for him, going perfectly with his ultimate. The added movement speed also goes well with Preyta’s naturally high movement speed. |
Frosty’s Revenge | Frosty’s Revenge gives Preyta’s abilities an additional slowing debuff, allowing him some extra utility. It additionally pushes up his movement speed even further while also granting a bit of magic defense. |
Rhea’s Blessing | Rhea’s Blessing can offer the Illest a bit of durability by means of the shield it grants at low health. The magic lifesteal it offers is additionally a great way to restore health after trades or fights. |
Holy of Holies | Holy of Holies is a great way to finish a build for Preyta, offering a lot of ability power and health. This is a rather expensive item, and so is best saved as the last item in a build. However, despite its lack of a unique effect, it is a very powerful item choice for damaging spell casters. |
Staff of Nuul | When dealing with enemies with large amounts of magic defense, Staff of Null is a must. It pierces through a percentage of enemy defenses and thereby grows more effective as enemies build more magic defense. It additionally offers some cooldown speed to accelerate how often Preyta can cast his abilities. |
Boots Upgrade
Enchanted Kicks | Enchanted Kicks is a standard choice for damaging mages like Preyta. The magic pierce that the boots offer can be invaluable in getting through enemy defenses. |
Flashy Boots | Flashy Boots is a nice alternative to Enchanted Kicks if you are confident in your damage already or wanting to use your spells more frequently. |
Sample Item Builds
This item set builds Preyta as a long range nuker, allowing him to deal massive damage with Plague Specter and Poison Gas Bomb. Each item contributes to pumping up his ability power as to reach maximum damage. Preyta will primarily be attacking from afar, but the health bonuses from Orb of the Magi and Holy of Holies will give him a bit of wiggle room when caught in the middle of a fight.
This build splits its power focus between his long range abilities and ultimate normal attacks. Hecate’s Diadem is of course present once more, providing its immense amount of ability power. Orb of the Magi and Frosty’s Revenge add to his ability power as well, though Frosty’s Revenge does a better job controlling enemies than killing them. Zweihander pumps up Preyta’s normal attacks, especially those charged up by his ultimate. Despite being primarily for marksmen, we throw Devil’s Handshake in as well. The attack speed boost will ensure that Preyta can throw out as many empowered attacks as possible. In addition, Devil’s Handshake, Zweihander, and Frosty’s Revenge all grant movement speed bonuses, allowing Preyta to zip around the battlefield. Come to think of it…
Zweihander | Hermes’ Select | Frosty’s Revenge | Slikk’s Sting | Devil’s Handshake | Zweihander again |
