Arena of Valor Hero Release*, Ignis

*As of the writing of this article, Ignis has just been released in the Philippines, while he was already playable in China and parts of Southeast Asia. He is not yet available in North America.

Imagine playing Gandalf or Merlin and throwing fireballs in a mobile arena game. Possessing those abilities is a new Arena of Valor hero named Ignis, the Anointed One. He’s the first additional hero to the current roster in Arena of Valor Philippines and soon in North America.

The new Arena of Valor hero, Ignis, is a mage class hero who masters the element of fire. He releases massive AoE (Area of Effect) damage to enemies, especially to those with weak defenses. One special feature of Ignis is his ability to mark the flame of his targets which increases the damage output of his other three abilities. This makes Ignis more dynamic and unpredictable when it comes to 5v5 combat.

Ignis’ ability set includes 1 passive ability and 3 active abilities. His passive, “Sacred Flame,” enables the player to mark his opponents with a mark of flame for a short period of time. The mark enables additional damage when Ignis uses his three active abilities: “Fire Crash,” “Rain of Fire,” and “Holy Embers.”

His first active, Fire Crash, is a magic ability that deals magic damage to his first enemies and nearby enemies. It also increases his movement speed up to 40% for 1 second. If your opponents are still marked, additional damage is dealt while your movement speed increases. Ignis’ second ability, Rain of Fire, releases a barrage of fireballs in a target area for 3 seconds, dealing magical damage. The ability also reduces the movement speed of opposing players by 50% for 2 seconds, while those who are still marked are stunned for 1.5 seconds. Finally, Holy Embers is the hero’s third and final active ability. The ability enables you to create a form of massive fire damage for 1.5 seconds. Again, those enemies who still have the mark receive an additional 900 damage.

Playing as Ignis requires an ability-intensive playing style since he is capable of casting spells aimlessly. Taking advantage of his Sacred Flame passive, together with the proper timing of his spells maximizes his true potential as a magical damage dealer. Ignis, when used effectively, lets you will your team to victory!

Arena of Valor Overview

Arena of Valor is a massively popular mobile Multiplayer Online Battle Arena which features intense player-versus-player combat similar to genre titan League of Legends. Arena of Valor is the world’s highest-grossing mobile game app, first launching its beta version in China on November 26, 2015. The game is also playable in other East Asia countries and to most South-East Asian regions having a monthly active player base of 200 million users in 2017.
