Arena of Valor (AoV) - January 31 Patch Notes

A small patch will be applied to the Arena of Valor (AoV) Europe and Americas servers on the morning of January 31. Six physical damage-dealing heroes will be buffed in response to the Soulreaver nerf in the January 16 patch.

Arena of Valor is balancing certain heroes that were negatively affected by the Soulreaver change in the January 16 patch. The change will occur on the Europe and Americas servers, and will take place at midnight PST.

With the Southeast Asia server just catching up to the other servers based on their January 29 Facebook post, it remains to be seen whether they’ll implement the same changes soon. Meanwhile, Kil’groth is only receiving changes on the Europe server, which makes things all the more difficult for us when it comes to keeping our attributes tables updated and consistent (insert sighing emoji here).

In any case, Zanis, Fennik, Lindis, Nakroth, Valhein, and Kil’Groth (Europe only) are receiving buffs. Though most of the community agreed that marksmen junglers would take the biggest hit, only half of the buffed heroes are marksmen. Here are the full changes:

Zanis, The Dragoon
Ability 2 – Tail Swipe
– Attack Speed increase on hit increased from 40% -> 50%
Ability 3 – Dragon’s Wrath
– Knocked in Air duration increased from 0.5s -> 0.75s

Kil’Groth, The Terror (Europe server only)
Ability 2 – Enraged Spear
– Additional Magic Damage on hit increased from 20/40/60/80/100/120 (+0.2AD) -> 25/50/75/100/125/150 (+0.25AD)

Fennik, Vulpis Ignis
Ability 3 – Chain Hammer Cyclone
– Physical Damage Inflicted every 0.5s increased from 75/93/111 (+0.3AD) -> 80/105/130 (+0/35AD)

Lindis, The Sentinel
Passive – Tread Softly
– Movement Speed increase duration increased from 2s -> 2.5s
– Next Normal Attack Strengthened effect duration increased from 2s -> 2.5s
Ability 1 – Piercing Gaze
– Bonus Damage for Third Basic Attack on the Same Target increased from 80/160/240/320/400/480 (+0.4AD) -> 90/180/270/360/450/540 (+0.45AD)

Nakroth, The Executioner’s Blade
Ability 2 – Death Sentence
– Mana Cost reduced from 80/85/90/95/100/105 -> 55/60/65/70/75/80
Ability 3 – Judgment’s Blade
– Damage increased from 130/165/200 -> 130/180/230
– Mana Cost reduced from 140/145/160 -> 100/125/150

Valhein, The Demon Hunter
Ability 3 – Bullet Storm
– Damage increased from 100/125/150 (0.5AD)(+0.5AP) -> 200/250/300 (+1.0AD)(+1.0AP)
– When the same target is hit by multiple bullets, subsequent hits deals 40% of initial damage

The buffs to Zanis, Kil’Groth, Fennik, and Lindis are slight, though noticeable changes. Nakroth often has mana issues if he can’t secure the Sage Buff for a while, so a 25-mana decrease on an ability with a 5-second cooldown will keep him on the map longer when he’s looking to gank. The biggest buff listed here is to Valhein, whose damage is increased by over 400 if only one or two bullets connect in the late game. If all six connect, the damage is roughly the same as pre-patch.

    • I personally think he resembles Twisting Fate a bit more, but there certainly are similarities. He sees a lot of play due to being the first hero anyone plays/receives, simple skills, and his unique fashion sense. Dude’s got a taste in hats.
