Talents – How to Use Them + Recommended Heroes

Arena of Valor Sprint 100 Second Cooldown
Increases movement speed by 30% for 10 seconds.
Available from the beginning of the game.
Sprint helps heroes get around the battlefield in a hurry. Whether needing to get to a team fight as soon as possible or attempting to escape a bad fight, a burst of speed can be a huge help.

Added in 2018 Winter Wonderland Patch: Enable the instant cancellation of the slowdown effect, and obtain a constantly decaying 70% increase in movement speed (decreases to 30% within 1 second). This 30% movement speed bonus is maintained for 9 seconds.

Arena of Valor Execute
90 Second Cooldown
Instantly attacks a nearby enemy hero and deals damage equal to 16% of the HP the enemy hero has lost as true damage.
Obtained at Player Level 3
Execute is a good way to finish off an enemy, securing a kill on a hero who otherwise would have fled. Its health-based true damage makes it a good counter to high health tanks and warriors.
Useful on: Examples:
Melee Damage Dealers Butterfly, Zanis


Arena of Valor Punish
30 Second Cooldown
Deals (740 + (60*level)) true damage to nearby minions and monsters and stuns them for 1 second.
Obtained at Player Level 5
Punish is generally a Talent reserved for heroes who are Jungling through the early game. The extra damage it offers can speed up the one’s jungling rotation. Furthermore, it helps secure last hits on important monsters like the Abyssal Dragon and Dark Slayer.
Punish’s damage is increased by the effects of jungling items.
Punish becomes Frostbite upon the purchase of a Tier 2 jungling item.

Arena of Valor Frostbite
30 Second Cooldown
Deals (740 + (60*level)) true damage to a nearby minion or monster and stuns them for one second, or deals damage to surrounding enemy heroes and reduces their movement speed by 50% for 2 seconds.
Obtained When Purchasing a Tier 2 Jungle Item
The Punish Talent with some added versatility. Frostbite will grant you some extra damage and control in fights, which is something that many junglers are sorely lacking.
Useful on: Examples:
Junglers Zephys, Lu Bu


Arena of Valor Roar
60 Second Cooldown
Increases attack speed by 60% and attack damage by 10% for 5 seconds.
Obtained at Player Level 7
Useful in quickly bursting down opponents or getting an edge in close fights. Especially nice when using ranged heroes or items and abilities whose effects occur after a certain number of attacks.
Useful on: Examples:
Heroes with Abilities that Trigger after a Number of Attacks Valhein, Yorn
Heroes with Timed Damage Buffs Lu Bu, Zanis


Arena of Valor Heal
120 Second Cooldown
You and nearby teammates instantly recover 15% HP and gain 15% movement speed for 2 seconds.
Obtained at Player Level 9
Heal is purely a support skill, its health boost and speed offering a lot in team fights. The sudden extra health can be used to trick enemies into attacking as well as keep your team attacking in a team fight.
Useful on: Examples:
Tanks Chaugnar, Toro
Supports Alice, Peura


Arena of Valor Disrupt
60 Second Cooldown
Silences a structure for 5 seconds.
Obtained at Player Level 11
Being able to disable towers is an ability often overlooked. Enemies will often lower their guard while under the tower’s protection. As such, the ability to safely attack in this supposed danger zone can easily result in some extra kills. This skill can also be used to continue an attack on a tower after your minion wave has been cleared.
Useful on: Examples:
Assassins Batman, Zephys
Siege Heroes Violet, Yorn


Arena of Valor Daze
90 Second Cooldown
Stuns nearby enemies for 0.5 seconds. Damage dealt by surrounding enemies is reduced by 40% for 2 seconds.
Obtained at Player Level 13
Daze can offer a moment to escape should an opponent get too close, a disruption in your opponent’s attack rhythm, or an opening for your allies to attack. While the stun isn’t the longest available, it is enough to either disable a channeled skill or give allies a head start in attacking.

Mages Krixi, Ilumia
Initiators Lumburr, Toro


Arena of Valor Purify
120 Second Cooldown
Removes all debuffs and control effects on yourself and gains immunity to them for 1.5 seconds.
Obtained at Player Level 15
While not the flashiest of skills, Purify can be the difference between living and dying to a number of heroes. Removing and negating stuns, slows, and other debuffs keeps your hero mobile and active in fights.

Tanks Taara, Arthur
Heroes Reliant on Mobility Kriknak, Thane


Arena of Valor Flicker
120 Second Cooldown
Teleports your hero a short distance.
Obtained at Player Level 17
Flicker can be used either as an escape or an initiate. Allowing a hero to warp through walls and other unpassable terrain makes it invaluable in eluding your enemies. However, it is also a powerful tool to tanks who might otherwise have trouble getting close enough to use their impressive control abilities.
