Nintendo Switch Closed Beta Date Announced

Arena of Valor and Nintendo Switch published identical closed beta announcement videos today on the official Arena of Valor and Nintendo YouTube channels, respectively. The beta start date is set to June 28, with application forms available in the descriptions of both videos.

In speaking with a community representative from Tencent, Samurai Gamers has learned that this closed beta will be much more inclusive than the closed beta held in January, which was reportedly very limited.

The one minute, four second video is understandably geared toward players unfamiliar with Arena of Valor, touting its “classic MOBA experience” and the fact that it’s “the only real MOBA on Nintendo Switch.” Arena of Valor also highlights a few of its heroes while mentioning that it is “The Official Esports Title of the 2018 Asian Games” in hyping its esports potential.

For experienced Arena of Valor players, however, the big selling points are the upgraded graphics – which are very apparent in the sample game play – and the exclusive skin rewards for signing up. Well, that and the fact that AoV on the Switch is finally on its way. In the Nintendo Direct: E3 2018 video posted on June 12, Arena of Valor appears at 14:50 with a release scheduled for “Fall 2018.”

First Substantial Arena of Valor “Advertisement”

By getting the announcement trailer uploaded to Nintendo’s official YouTube channel, Arena of Valor and Tencent have finally done what AoV lovers everywhere have asked for – properly advertise the game. Though the Arena of Valor World Cup‘s massive prize pool is certainly a selling point, and the game is already huge in Taiwan and Southeast Asia, the lack of proper advertisement in the western market is what has prevented AoV from taking off in English-speaking circles (or at least that’s the opinion of this particular writer). Hopefully this marks the beginning of the game’s explosion – and perhaps shorter queue times in the Diamond and Master ranks.
