Guide for Avery (Battle Court)

Avery is one of the characters that you need to defeat in The Isle of Armor expansion of Pokemon Sword and Shield. The character is encountered at the Master Dojo’s Battle Court.

Recommended Pokemon

• Dark: Thievul, Morgrem, Obstagoon
• Ghost: Froslass, Golurk, Dusknoir, Gengar, Gourgeist, Chandelure, Shedninja
• Rock: Drednaw, Coalossal, Tyranitar
• Electric: Boltund, Manectric, Jolteon, Raichu, Vikavolt, Toxtricity
• Ice: Mr. Rime, Weavile, Frosmoth
• Ground: Excadrill, Golurk, Steelix, Dugtrio, Flygon, Mudsdale

Avery Battle Court Battle (Pokemon Shield)

• Galarian Ponyta♂ (Lv. 24/Lv. 65), Swoobat♀ (Lv. 24/Lv. 66), Kadabra♂ (Lv. 24/Lv. 66), Galarian Slowbro♂ (Lv. 25/Lv. 67)

Your final trial or third battle against Avery will occur at the Master Dojo’s battle court. In addition, he will place the field with Psychic Terrain automatically at the start of the battle. Make sure you have terrain changing moves in battle.

Avery starts with his Galarian Ponyta, a pure Psychic type, so either use a Dark type or Ghost type move. Then, he shifts to his Swoobat which is a hybrid Psyhic/Flying type. We suggest using a Rock type, Electric type or Ice type move to handle his second Pokemon. His third Pokemon is a Kadabra which is another Psychic type and so use the previous Pokemon you’ve used when defeating Galarian Ponyta. Galarian Slowbro, a hybrid Poison/Psychic type, is his last Pokemon so use your keep using Dark type, Ghost type or Ground type move to handle it.
