Guide for Wyndon Champion Cup Finals Stage (Vega)

The Wyndon Champion Cup is the pokemon league in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. The trainer who wins the semifinals proceeds to the finals stage to face one of the Gym challengers.

Recommended Pokemon

Vega’s team consist of water types which is akin to Gym Leader Nessa’s. If your Pokemon aren’t raised enough, you might want to bring a combination of the following recommended Pokemon. Electric types prove useful against the flying types on Vega’s team, whereas the grass types can come in on Seismitoad and can take it out easily. Your team should be around level 75.

Here are the suggested Pokemon to use against Vega’s team:

  • Dragon: Goodra
  • Electric: Boltund, Jolteon, Toxtricity
  • Grass: Ferrothorn, Rillaboom, Rotom-Mow, Ludicolo, Shiftry
  • Water: Gastrodon

Vega Finals Stage Battle

  • Pelipper (Lv. 56), Barraskweda (Lv. 56), Seismitoad (Lv. 57), Araquanid (Lv. 57), Gyarados (Lv. 58)

Pelipper hits hard so you might want to use an electric type to defeat it in one hit. His other Pokemon take advantage of the weather, so you need Pokemon that are strong enough to take water type moves. Shield users have easy access to Ludicolo which is the counterpart to Sword players’ Shiftry. However, Ludicolo has some advantages over Shiftry when the rain is up since having one with Swift Swim ability helps it catch up to Vega’s fast water types. Grass types are ideal in taking damage from Barraskewda and Seismitoad because they resist most of their moves. If you have Ferrothorn, you can also have it come in safely with its immunity to poison moves. Other great Pokemon to bring include fast electric types such as Boltund, a water type that has Storm Drain like Gastrodon, or dragon types that have great bulk such as Goodra. His Araquanid might survive regular attacks due to its special defense so you might want to use dynamax on these last turns and follow up with Max Lightning to surpass them.
