Guide for Hulbury Gym Challenge

The Hulbury Gym is the second Galar gym to be visited by the player in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. Its gym leader is Nessa and she specializes in water-type pokemon.

Recommended Pokemon

• Grass: Grookey/Thwackey, Gossifleur/Eldegoss, Leafeon
• Electric: Yamper/Boltund, Electrike/Manectric, Pikachu/Raichu, Toxel, Jolteon

Gym Mission

Walk east and defeat Gym Trainer Julia, then press the yellow switch first on the upper side. Press the red switch next and pass through the cleared path.

Walk up the stairs and battle Gym Trainer Heather. Again, press the yellow switch first before the red one to clear the path ahead.

Follow the path that goes west and Battle Gym Trainer Lynn. Go south and press the yellow switch. Next, head for the red switch and then the blue one. This will clear the center path that leads to Nessa.

Gym Trainers

Trainers in the Hulbury gym use water type pokemon. Bring your thunder or grass type pokemon along for easy battles. Having chosen Grookey as your starter pokemon is an advantage here. If you do not have Grookey, an Eldegoss is a good substitute.

• Julia – Tympole (Lv.21)
• Heather – Krabby (Lv.20) and Corphish (Lv.20)
• Lynn – Remoraid (Lv.20) and Chewtle (Lv.21)

Gym Leader Nessa

• Goldeen (Lv. 22), Arrokuda (Lv. 23), and Dredaw (Lv. 24)

Nessa’s pokemon can be easily dealt with using grass-type Pokemon. As always, save your dynamax for Nessa’s Drednaw. Since it is a water/rock type pokemon, a few grass type attacks from Eldegoss should take it out fast.
