Pokemon Sword and Shield - Allister Gym Challenge (Stow-on-Side) Guide

Guide for Stow-on-Side Gym Challenge

The Stow-on-Side Gym is the fourth Galar gym to be visited by the player in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. In the Pokemon Shield version, its gym leader is Allister and he specializes in ghost-type pokemon.

Recommended Pokemon

  • Dark: Nickit/Thievul, Impidimp/Morgrem, Galarian Linoone
  • Flying: Gyrados, Corviknight
  • Steel: Excadrill

Gym Mission

Allister’s gym mission is the same as Bea’s. It requires you to get through the obstacle course while on a spinning cup. It is fairly straightforward. You can use the punching gloves positioned in the corners of the course to give you a boost in the direction you want to go.

Stow-on-Side Gym Trainers

The trainers in Stow-on-Side gym use ghost-type pokemon. It is recommended to have flying, dark, or steel type pokemon on your team to easily defeat them.

  • Clive (Lv.31 Pumpkaboo, Lv.31 Phantump, Lv.31 Pumpkaboo)
  • Lynne (Lv.32 Corsola)
  • Roy (Lv.33 Haunter, Lv.33 Drifblim)

Gym Leader Allister

Allister has a Lv. 34 Galarian Yamask, a Lv. 34 Mimikyu, a Lv. 35 Cursola, and a Lv. 36 Gengar (Dynamax). As insurance, bring extra potions, super potions, status condition healing items, and revives. Use mostly Dark-type moves against Galarian Yamask, Cursola, and Gengar. When facing against Mimikyu, use steel-type moves to exploit its weakness. Although Allister’s pokemon are also weak to ghost-type moves, we don’t suggest risking our own ghost unless you are confident.
