What is a Pokémon Camp
Also, the player can also join and have fun with his/her six Pokémon using a Poké Toy or a variety of bouncing balls.
Cook and Serve Curry on Rice
While in Pokémon Camp, players have an option to cook a well-loved curry on rice. The dish can be made using a variety of ingredients and berries obtained throughout the region.
Based on pre-release footage, the player needs to open his/her curry dex and decide on a curry flavor. Then, check if you have the required ingredients before actually cooking.
When cooking the dish, the player needs to pick ingredients manually. To add more challenge, there’s a time limit when picking the ingredients and berries so it is essential to remember them prior cooking.
Once the player has picked the ingredients, the game will automatically place them in the cooking pot. Then, the player needs to either use button controls or motion controls to successfully cook the curry.
After cooking, the player and one of his/her Pokémon will taste-test the finished curry on rice. If both love the dish, the player will obtain a positive taste rating and various boosts:
- Increased Friendship* with his/her six Pokémon.
- HP restoration for the chosen Pokémon used for taste-testing.
- Bonus experience points for the chosen Pokémon.
*Friendship refers to the bond between the trainer and his/her Pokémon. In previous games, a higher Friendship enables certain Pokémon to evole or gain special moves.
Visit and Explore Other Pokémon Camps
If they’re playing online, the player may encounter other Pokémon camps in the wild areas of the Galar Region.
If they are connected with each other locally or through Nintendo Switch Online, the player can enter another player’s Pokémon Camp and interact with their Pokémon. In addition, the player can also cook curry on rice at their friend’s camp. However, there is no information given on if there are additional mechanics when cooking in another player’s Pokémon Camp.
More details about Pokémon Camp will be added once Pokémon Sword and Shield become available on November 15th. Stay tuned to this page and to our Pokémon Sword and Shield guide page for more game updates!
