Guide for Wyndon Champion Cup Finals Stage (Yue)

The Wyndon Champion Cup is the pokemon league in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. The trainer who wins the semifinals proceeds to the finals stage to face one of the Gym challengers.

Recommended Pokemon

Yue’s team consists mostly of evolved normal types which are often common in grass patches and raids. After having battled Hop’s normal type Pokemon countless times, you can use the same tactic when faced against them. Your team should be around level 75.

Here are the suggested Pokemon to use against Yue’s team:

  • Fighting: Conkeldurr, Machamp, Pangoro
  • Ghost: Aegislash, Dragapult, Dusknoir,
  • Steel: Corviknight, Lucario

Yue Finals Stage Battle

  • Greedent (Lv. 56), Cinccino (Lv. 56), Diggersby (Lv. 57), Dubwool (Lv. 57), Snorlax (Lv. 58)

Strong fighting types can come in safely on plenty of the moves that Yue’s Pokemon uses. Having moves like Drain Punch also adds longevity to fighting types especially if they often take hits before landing their attack. Alternatively, you can use ghost or steel types. Most ghost types and steel types do not have super effective moves against normal types but they are either immune to these moves or resist them. You can send out Corviknight when Yue brings Diggersby due to its ground type immunity and resistance to normal moves. Corviknight can start sharpening its attack with Hone Claws to make its flying or steel type moves hit harder after dynamaxing. You may also opt to use other Pokemon such as strong fighting types with Drain Punch to collect buffs when faced against Diggersby and heal back its health with a buffed Drain Punch. The only downside to this is that you Diggersby can still deal neutral damage to your Pokemon. While not the best option, some ghost types can also take on Yue’s Pokemon using non-ghost type moves, fighting moves, will-o-wisp and accompany these with max moves.
