Pokemon Sword and Shield - Raihan Champion Cup (Wyndon) Guide

Guide for Wyndon Champion Cup Finals Stage (Raihan)

The Wyndon Champion Cup is the pokemon league in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. The trainer who wins the semifinals proceeds to the finals stage to again face the Galar gym leaders, including Raihan.

Recommended Pokemon

Unlike in Hammerlocke, Raihan no longer forces you to send out two Pokemon at a time. He carries a team that are weak to many common types, notably ground, fairy, and fighting.

  • Fairy: Sylveon
  • Fighting: Conkeldurr, Machamp
  • Ground: Dugtrio, Flygon

Raihan Finals Stage Battle

  • Torkoal (Lv. 53), Turtonator (Lv. 54), Goodra (Lv. 54), Flygon (Lv. 54), Duraludon (Lv. 55)

Raihan dumped some of his sandstorm team members to accommodate ones that depend on sunlight. He sends Torkoal out which instantly summons the sun to power up its fire type moves. Since sunlight weakens water type moves, use ground types to put it out. If it survives the hit, it might use Yawn to lull your Pokemon to sleep later. Wake it up with an awakening or full heal to avoid wasting turns. His next Pokemon is Turtonator which copies the same trick used in the gym challenge. You can ignore its trap by using a special attack like Moonblast. The rest of his Pokemon are weak to fairy, with the exception of Duraludon which takes regular damage from it. Have your Pokemon cast Moonblast to knock those two clean. Once he’s down to his last Pokemon, switch to a fighting type and use Max Knuckle.

  1. I’ve looked a raihans team and found out the some of his dragon Pokémon are weak to ice like Goodra and Flygon.

  2. Would you recommend any (other than healing, reviving, etc) a good way to beat Raihan? My pokemon are all strong and healthy, but I’m worried I’ll need to create a whole new pokemon arsenal after this.
