Pokemon Sword and Shield - Melony Gym Challenge (Circhester) Guide

Guide for Circhester Gym Challenge

The Circhester Gym is the sixth Galar gym to be visited by the player in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. In the Pokemon Shield version, its gym leader is Melony and she specializes in ice-type pokemon.

Recommended Pokemon

  • Steel: Perrserker, Corviknight
  • Fire: Cinderace, Arcanine
  • Electric: Boltund, Manetric
  • Rock: Drednaw, Coalossal

Gym Mission

Melony’s gym mission is similar to Gordie’s. It requires you to use a trap detector to guide you as you walk through three obstacle courses. You will fall into a pit and start at a checkpoint if you step on an invisible trap. In the last course, you need to walk through an ice fog instead of a dusty atmosphere.

Circhester Gym Trainers

The trainers at Circhester stadium use ice type pokemon. You can gain an advantage over them by using steel, fire, electric, and rock type pokemon. Otherwise, remember to bring as many potions, super potions, ice heals, and revives as you can before taking them on.

  • Lewis (Lv. 38 Snom)
  • Liana (Lv.  38 Cloyster)
  • Alexander (Lv. 39. Beartic)
  • Micah (Lv. 39. Avalugg)

Gym Leader Melony (Pokemon Shield only)

Melony has a Lv.40 Frosmoth, Lv.40 Galarian Darmanitan, Lv.41 Eiscue, and Lv.42 Lapras. Take on her team with fire, steel, electric, and rock pokemon. Corvisquire is more than capable of sweeping through her pokemon using steel type moves. If you chose Scorbunny as your starter, its third evolution, Cinderace, can easily take out Melony’s pokemon. If you didn’t get Scorbunny, Arcanine is a good alternative.

Melony’s team can also be dealt with by using any steel pokemon, specifically Perrserker if you have evolved Galarian Meowth. Be ready to face Lapras, a water/ice type pokemon, in dynamax during Melony’s last stand. Send out an electric type pokemon against it to gain the advantage.
