Brilliant Pokemon and Shiny Pokemon Guide

The tall grass and the vast wild area are home to many wild Pokemon. The wild area also offers Pokemon that inhabit dens and come in their dynamaxed or even gigantamaxed forms. Whether you’re looking to join raids, do some training, or are out to catch all sorts of Pokemon, the wild area serves as a hub for Pokemon Trainers to explore.

However, if you’ve been battling Pokemon for a while, chances are that you’ve come across some Pokemon cloaked in a golden aura. Here, we take a look at their features and their relation to the odds of finding Shiny Pokemon.

How to find Brilliant Pokemon

Pokemon that emanate a bright aura are known as Brilliant Pokemon. These rare Pokemon come at higher levels than their regular counterparts and have special moves. Similar to Pokemon found in dens, they have at least two maxed out IVs. When defeated, these Pokemon give experience and some bonus watts. The amount of watts you earn depends on the Pokemon’s level, with stronger Pokemon giving more watts.

Unlike previous games, you don’t need to defeat these Pokemon consecutively. You need about 100 encounters of the same Pokemon to max out the chance of finding them.

Fishing for Brilliant Pokemon

Another way to find Brilliant Pokemon is to go fishing. Dark spots in the water signify the presence of a wild water type Pokemon. Similar to the above mentioned features, some of these spots also contain rare Pokemon. Search for fishing spots that have a gold aura. While the goal is the same, fishing has its own process which requires chaining. You can’t afford to break the chain if you wish to raise the chance of finding these Pokemon. In other words, you can’t fail reeling a Pokemon in, back out from the battle, exit the area, catch the encountered Pokemon, or turn off your game. Fortunately, you don’t need to battle the same species over and over. Simply knock out whichever Pokemon you land and keep fishing. After fishing and defeating Pokemon at least 25 times, you will have maxed out the probability that a Brilliant Pokemon will appear.

After knocking out a Pokemon, wait in the same patch of grass and you might encounter the same species again. If battling is also your strong suit, doing this method also helps you earn certain Effort Values. After battling many Pokemon of the same species, the chance of finding another increases. Continue knocking out these Pokemon and you may find not only find more Brilliant Pokemon but also have a chance to find a Shiny Pokemon.
