Pokemon Sword and Shield - Birthday Event Effects

Overview

A recurring feature in the games is the Birthday Event. After telling your birthday to the npc, certain special events will occur when the date falls on your birthday.

Setting the date

Unlike previous games, choosing your birthday relies on talking to an npc. To set the date of your character’s birthday, you need to reach Wedgehurst. Head to the facade of the Pokemon center entrance and speak to the girl standing at the right corner. Tell her your the month and day of your birthday to set the date.

Event

On your birthday, you can visit a Pokemon Center to receive a surprise. As you walk up to the counter, confetti-like effects will appear behind you followed by some Pokemon floating Pikachu stamps and teapots. Continue walking up to the Pokemon center nurse and interact with her. She will acknowledge you and wishes you a happy birthday. Another aesthetic change also appears behind her like the Poke Ball-shaped cake.

Celebrating at the Poke Camp

In addition, you can also celebrate your birthday by setting up a camp. Choose cook curry and you’ll get a Decorative Curry adorned with confetti and some iconic characters. To top it off, you also get a candle at the center of your plate.
