Rotom’s Functions
Rotom is a peculiar Electric/Ghost-type Pokemon who first appeared in Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. This Pokemon has the ability to possess specific machines, causing it to change form and typing. It can transform into a microwave oven, a washing machine, a refrigerator, or even a lawnmower.
But in recent Pokemon games, starting with Sun and Moon, Rotom acts as a companion for the trainers by possessing a Pokedex with added features.

Pokemon Sword and Shield has added more functions to Rotom by making it possess a smartphone that can attach to several trainer peripherals to boost their abilities.
For example, if you attach the Rotom Phone to your bike, you will be able to travel over water and move much faster on land.
Other items that the Rotom Phone can attach to is currently unknown, but we are expecting Nintendo to release more information soon.
