The Wyndon Champion Cup is the pokemon league in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. The trainer who wins the semifinals proceeds to the finals stage to face one of the Gym challengers.

Recommended Pokemon

Gordie built a team of rock types and four of these have secondary types. The best type to use against Gordie’s team is water since only one Pokemon takes neutral damage from it. Your team should be around level 75.

• Fighting: Conkeldurr, Machamp, Pangoro
• Water: Drednaw, Inteleon, Ludicolo

Gordie Finals Stage Battle

• Barbaracle (Lv. 60), Shuckle (Lv. 60), Stonjourner (Lv. 61), Tyranitar (Lv. 61), Coalossal (Lv. 62)

Gordie leads with Barbaracle and it has Shell Smash to raise its firepower and speed. It has average special defense so your best bet is to use a Pokemon with a strong special attack. If you chose Sobble, you may use Inteleon’s Snipe Shot to knock it out quickly. When he sends out Shuckle, you can start collecting boosts using moves like Bulk Up or items like X Attack or X Special Attack. When he’s down to three Pokemon, use dynamax and fire off Max Geyser. Having this move helps your Pokemon overwrite Tyranitar’s sandstorm with rain which negates the special defense boost of its party. Another option is to use fighting types however these Pokemon often carry physical attacks which might take a few more turns depending on how it was trained.
