Guide for Wyndon Champion Cup Finals Stage (Izar)
The Wyndon Champion Cup is the pokemon league in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. The trainer who wins the semifinals proceeds to the finals stage to face one of the Gym challengers.
Recommended Pokemon
Izar trained a team of ice type Pokemon. Among these, three of his Pokemon have secondary types. Mamoswine stands out from the rest because it carries ground type moves which can punish fire types that fail to knock it out in one hit. That being said, having a Pokemon like Arcanine can help immensely because its ability softens Mamoswine’s attack. From there, you can have Arcanine use Will-o-Wisp to further weaken it. After being weakened, you can use a water type or switch in Arcanine back and forth until its attacks are low enough for you to safely use an attack of your own. Your team should be around level 75.
Here are the suggested Pokemon to use against Izar’s team:
- Fire: Arcanine, Cinderace
- Steel: Bisharp, Ferrothorn, Corviknight
Izar Finals Stage Battle
- Vanilluxe (Lv. 56), Frosmoth (Lv. 56), Beartic (Lv. 57), Mr. Rime (Lv. 57), Mamoswine (Lv. 58)
Izar leads with Vanilluxe to summon hail. Fire types like Cinderace with physical fire moves are top choices. Corviknight is a great Pokemon to use not only because you can catch it early but also due to its resistances. While Corviknight takes neutral damage to ice, it evades ground type moves which isn’t an option that many steel types have. You can also opt to use Bisharp or Ferrothorn since they can also come in on most of Izar’s Pokemon. Bisharp can come in safely on Mr. Rime if it decides to use Psychic and can easily topple it off with a powerful steel or dark type attack. Meanwhile, Ferrothorn’s natural bulk helps it survive attacks from Beartic and Mamoswine and can return a Gyro Ball to take them down. However, if your Pokemon aren’t high enough, stick with using Max Steelspike or Max Flare on his last three Pokemon. Overall, ice types have many weaknesses and unless his Pokemon gets lucky in freezing yours, you should be able to close this one out without much problems.
