Guide for Wyndon Champion Cup Finals Stage (Kabu)

The Wyndon Champion Cup is the pokemon league in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. The trainer who wins the semifinals proceeds to the finals stage to face one of the Gym challengers.

Recommended Pokemon

Kabu made some changes to his team since your last battle in Motostoke. His team now consists of two Pokemon that can summon the sun. Your team should be around level 75.

Here are the suggested Pokemon to use against Milo’s team:

• Dragon: Hydreigon
• Ground: Dugtrio, Flygon, Hippowdon
• Rock: Drednaw, Gigalith, Tyranitar

Kabu Finals Stage Battle

• Torkoal (Lv. 60), Ninetales (Lv. 60), Arcanine (Lv. 61), Salazzle (Lv. 61), Centiskorch (Lv. 62)

Kabu sends out Torkoal first which automatically basks in the sun. You can also stop the sunlight by sending out a Pokemon with the sand stream ability. If you have one of each type, you can preserve sand stream for later when he brings out Ninetales. Since overwriting the weather depends on the speed, you might want to switch your Pokemon in once his Ninetales is out to guarantee that you’ll get sandstorm on that turn. Good choices include Gigalith, Tyranitar and to some extent Hippowdown. The first two Pokemon are better options if you have trained them since they also get special defense boosts while the weather is up. In addition, having sandstorm active prevents Ninetales from firing a Solar Beam in a single turn. You can use this time to gather some Bulk Ups, Dragon Dances, X Attacks or other similar boosts. Drednaw is also a decent option provided that you have already knocked out Ninetales to avoid taking a Solar Beam.
