Guide for Wyndon Champion Cup Finals Stage (Piers)

The Wyndon Champion Cup is the pokemon league in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. The trainer who wins the semifinals proceeds to the finals stage to face one of the Gym challengers.

Recommended Pokemon

Despite passing his title to Marnie, Piers continues to fight as one of the champion cup challengers. Similar to his sister, he also brings one Pokemon that is not a dark type. If you plan on using only one Pokemon, you can opt to teach your Pokemon Calm Mind and a psychic type move. Your team should be around level 75.

Here are the suggested Pokemon to use against Piers’ team:

• Fairy: Gardevoir, Sylveon
• Ground: Excadrill, Flygon

Piers Finals Stage Battle

• Scrafty (Lv. 60), Malamar (Lv. 60), Skuntank (Lv. 61), Toxtricity (Lv. 61), Obstagoon (Lv. 62)

Piers leads with Scrafty which also gets a free Fake Out on the first turn. After taking the hit, use a strong fairy type move to make it faint. If he sends out Malamar, use Calm Mind to raise your special attack for a few turns. After getting some boosts, you can dynamax if you haven’t done it yet and use max moves or keep using strong attacks like Moonblast or Psychic. If you also brought a ground type, you can swap out your fairy type for it and use moves like Earthquake to take out the poison types. Unlike other champion cup battles, you’re free to use dynamax on whichever turn you like since Piers doesn’t use it.
