The Wyndon Champion Cup is the pokemon league in Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield. The trainer who wins the semifinals proceeds to the finals stage to face one of the Gym challengers.

Recommended Pokemon

Theemin is one of the new Gym challengers that you can take on in the post-game version of the champion cup. Theemin excels in handling steel type Pokemon which is akin the chairman’s team. Your team should be around level 75.

Here are the suggested Pokemon to use against Theemin’s team:

• Fire: Arcanine, Chandelure, Cinderance
• Fighting: Pangoro

Theemin Finals Stage Battle

• Perrserker (Lv. 56), Mawile (Lv. 56), Bronzong (Lv. 57), Steelix (Lv. 57), Copperajah (Lv. 58)

Theemin starts off with Perrserker which often gets a free hit with Fake Out unless you lead with a ghost type. If you chose Scorbunny to accompany you, Cinderace can push through his team with Pyro Ball. However, should his Pokemon survive a hit or two, you can opt to weaken some of his Pokemon first. Send out a Pokemon with intimidate to soften one of his Pokemon’s attacks. You can then feed your Pokemon some X Attack or X Sp. Attack to boost its firepower, or use buffs for a few turns. Arcanine can replace Cinderace since you can also punish his Pokemon with a burn from will-o-wisp. Alternatively, you can use Fighting types like Pangoro and pair it with a Steel type like Corviknight. Pangoro is a great option against four of Theemin’s Pokemon. Meanwhile, Corviknight can deal with Mawile since it resists fairy and steel moves. While Chandelure fares well with some of Theemin’s Pokemon, it can be tough to go up against Mawile and Steelix if they survive and use a dark type attack. When he’s down to at most three Pokemon, use dynamax and have your Pokemon unleash Max Flares on each of his remaining Pokemon to end the match.
