Pokemon Sword and Shield - Galarian Forms

Galarian forms are regional variants of some Pokemon that can be found in Pokemon Sword and Shield. Some of them evolve into new forms when trained in the Galar region.

What are Galarian forms?

Galarian forms are Pokemon that have adapted to the Galar region. They look different and have new attacks and abilities. These forms are similar to Pokemon Sun and Moon’s Alolan forms. They debuted during the “A New Team and New Rivals” trailer.

Below is a list of the currently known Galarian forms and their respective evolutions.

Galarian Weezing

Galarian Weezing

Galarian Weezing sport charcoal colored bodies with green smoke covering their faces. They are poison and fairy type. These Pokemon have elongated tubes on their heads which resemble top hats or chimneys. Unlike regular Weezing, Galarian Weezing serve as air purifiers by inhaling toxic substances and converting them to clean air. However, when faced with a threat, they expel poison from their mouths to attack enemies.

In the “Prepare for battle” trailer, Galarian Weezing activated its new ability, Neutralizing Gas, which suppresses the abilities of all Pokemon on the field.

Galarian Zigzagoon and its evolution

Zigzagoon’s Galarian form, along with its evolution, also appeared in the same video. Galarian Zigzagoon have darker colored bodies compared to their counterparts. Aside from their color, their facial expressions appear to be completely different from regular Zigzagoon.

New Galarian Form Evolutions

Obstagoon

The first Galarian form evolution to make its debut is Obstagoon. It evolves from Galarian Linoone and retains its dark and normal-typing. When Obstagoon attacks, a bright cross shape appears.

Sirfetch’d

Recently, the Pokemon Youtube Channel announced Sirfetch’d, a new fighting type Pokemon. Previously teased as blurred pixels on the official website, it was revealed to be the galarian evolution of Farfetch’d. It wields a sword which resembles a spring onion and a shield. Its reveal trailer showed Sirfetch’d unleashing a devastating attack on an opposing Liepard. This attack might be its signature move, Meteor Assault. Unlike other galarian forms, Sirfetch’d can only be found in Pokemon Sword.
