Cover Art Pokemon Reveal
During the last minutes of the Pokemon Direct live stream on June 5, 2019, Nintendo revealed the two legendary Pokemon that grace the box art for their upcoming games Pokemon Sword and Shield.
Named Zacian and Zamazenta, these two Pokemon are wolf-like in appearance with aesthetics that represent the titles of the game in which they are featured. Let’s take a closer look at these two majestic creatures.
Zacian is featured on the cover of Pokemon Sword and, as such, carries a sophisticated golden sword in its mouth. The sword’s design bears resemblance to the Master Sword, the famous weapon in The Legend of Zelda series. It is currently unknown if this sword is attached to Zacian’s mouth or if it can put the weapon down.
The Pokemon is mostly covered in blue fur, but it has red parts on its tail and below its ears which look like ponytails. The gold fur on Zacian’s body may be harder than the rest of its fur, making it look like a built-in armor. These gold parts are found on its forehead and look like a crown, its ear, and the wing-like parts on its back.
It’s typing is unknown, but it could be a Steel type due to the sword theming.
Pokemon Shield’s box art Pokemon is Zamazenta, who has intricate shield-like fur on its front. This shield has hardened gold fur similar to Zacian which acts like an armor for the Pokemon. The two gold parts on either side of its body can protrude outwards to make the front shield even larger.
Like Zacian, Zamazenta’s typing is currently unknown, but the weapon theming suggests Steel type.
