First Ever Champion to be Determined Soon at the Arena of Valor World Cup (AWC)
After a series of grueling battles between the twelve elite teams representing their countries, only four teams remain to duke it out for the title as the first ever world champion at the Arena of Valor World Cup (AWC).
The AWC currently holds the biggest prize pool in mobile eSports history (550,000 USD), and with the tournament now on its final leg, they will soon give out this prize pool to the winners of the semifinals and finals happening on July 28-29 at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
The top four teams at the Arena of Valor World Cup (AWC)
At the start of the Arena of Valor World Cup, the twelve teams were divided into four groups. Only the top eight teams from all groups advanced to the quarterfinals; these eight teams are Thailand, North America, Chinese Taipei, Vietnam, Korea, Chinese Taipei (WC), China, and Thailand (WC).
The final Group Stage standings at the AWC
The quarterfinals gave us three dominating matches with Thailand, Korea, and Chinese Taipei unleashing their wrath against their respective enemy teams to win 3-0. The fourth match; however, was a very intense one as China had to endure the resilience of Vietnam who delivered a surprising victory in Game 2. But China was able to overcome their slow start as they defeated Vietnam with a convincing 3-1 score.
With four teams remaining, the semifinals kicks off on July 28 where Korea faces Chinese Taipei while Thailand goes up against China in a best-of-5 series. The winners of these matches battle for first place in a best-of-7 series at the finals on July 29.
