Cindered Shadows DLC Mission Battle 6: The Rite of Rising
The Ashen Wolves will be afflicted with an incurable poison during the start of the battle. You can only use concoctions to keep them alive. Equip at least two pieces on each of them before beginning the mission.
When the battle begins, have Ashe use his Retribution gambit on the rest of the units as they are formed in a 2×3 column.
Afterwards, have the Ashen Wolves move to a tile outside the range of nearby enemy units to avoid getting aggro. Balthus, however, will not have any safe places to go to and will be attacked anyway. Move Yuri close to Balthus’ position to help him manage the enemies.
Have Dimitri head straight for the two warlocks in the center of the map and engage them. He should be able to take them out quickly by being counterattacks from a distance thanks to the Retribution gambit effect. Byleth and Edelgard should take out the armored knights in the west and east respectively.
Move Claude and Hilda toward Yuri and Balthus to help them defeat the enemies on the northwest. Have Byleth join them after he finishes off the armored knight. Once the enemies have been cleared, Yuri can open the chest in west containing an Iron Sword/Lance.
Ashe and Lindhart, meanwhile, should go to Hapi’s location in the northeast along with Edelgard.
After taking out the warlocks in the center using Dimitri, have Constance go to Hapi’s location to regroup with your other units.
Once your non-Ashen Wolves reach Balthus’ vortex, have Hilda stand on it. Move Claude to Yuri’s vortex. For the team on the east, have Ashe open the other chest containing Iron Sword/Lance. Afterwards, move him to stand on Constance’s vortex while Edelgard gets on Hapi’s vortex.
Activating all vortexes cures the Ashen Wolves of poison. Afterwards, move your units toward the middle sector occupied by the fortress knights just before Aelfric. Byleth should draw aggro by moving towards the center in front of the fortress knights. Constance and Hapi should be ready to bombard the enemies from the backlines to support Byleth. Yuri, Dimitri, and Balthus should assist Byleth as well by splitting some of the aggro from him. Linhardt should be within healing range as well.
After taking out the remaining enemies, only Aelfric will remain. Take caution when planning to attack him as he is a powerful mage with high health. Poke Aelfric from a distance first with magic using Constance and Hapi to whittle down his health. Afterwards, have Balthus attack him with Rushing Blow, allowing him to move a space backward (this is to allow another melee unit to take a crack at him afterwards). Then, use Byleth’s Ruptured Heaven to stack even more damage and drop Aelfric’s health even lower. Finally, Finish him off with Dimitri using Tempest Lance or Knightkneeler.

How do you activate the vortexes?! I put my units on top of them and nothing happens, I can’t even damage the boss without debuffing him and now I’m just stuck
You have to do all four at once
Thanks for replying, Jacob
