Skirmish at Dawn Battle Strategy

1) Focus Nearby Enemy Units First

Fire Emblem: Three Houses - Skirmish at Dawn

Attack the reachable enemy thief unit standing in front of Remire village.

2) Place your Units on Forest Tiles

Fire Emblem: Three Houses - Skirmish at Dawn

After defeating the first enemy unit, move and position your units on the forest tiles. Forest tiles provide additional avoidance and defense.

3) Have your Range Unit Positioned Behind

Fire Emblem: Three Houses - Skirmish at Dawn

Place your bow unit behind your other melee units. In addition, avoid placing them on red tiles, also called Danger Areas, since they are areas that enemies can reach and attack.

4) Use your Combat Arts

Fire Emblem: Three Houses - Skirmish at Dawn

When available, make use of your character units’ unique attack called Combat Arts to finish off enemies. Press the ZL or ZR buttons to select the Combat Art. Be aware that using Combat Arts continuously will make the durability of the weapon used decrease.

5) Choose Adjacent Units and Trigger Linked Attacks

Fire Emblem: Three Houses - Skirmish at Dawn

Linked Attacks provide additional Avoidance (Avo) rate, Hit rate, and Might (Mt) to one or more adjacent units. To trigger a linked attack, a player must select one unit to attack an enemy while making sure that enemy is in range of your other units. You can identify there are linked attacks when another unit icon is shown on your selected unit. In addition, linked attacks can be activated by either normal attacks and Combat Arts.

For example, if an enemy unit lands in front of Byleth, you can see icons of Claude and Dimitri when you are about to target the enemy unit. Good use of linked attacks will aid the player in defeating powerful enemy units.  Also, linked attacks build support boosts among the adjacent units involved.

6) Defeat Kostas

Fire Emblem: Three Houses - Skirmish at Dawn

When Kostas is in range, defeat him immediately to end the battle as well as acquire his dropped equipment.

  1. Thanks ! Please release the rest of your great guide ! It’s annoying to always save and reload because I choose a wrong answer to some characters . . Especially since the game doesn’t have a “back to menu option”

    • We already have two story routes walkthroughs finished but we still need to get back to them and update dialogue choices and finish the rest of the story routes. Please be patient with us.

We are thankful that you find our walkthroughs helpful 🙂
