More Story Cutscenes Included in E3 2019 Trailer
The latest trailer for Fire Emblem: Three Houses showed more cutscenes of the game’s narrative. It focused on Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude as they lead their countries into war. The video was released yesterday during the E3 2019 Nintendo Direct livestream.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses will be released on July 26, 2019 on the Nintendo Switch.
Edelgard
Edelgard has ascended to the Adrestian Empire’s throne. She can be heard recounting her memories in battle alongside her former classmates.
Visually, older Edelgard wears a crown to establish her sovereignty in the empire. Her hair is now neatly tied in two places. Edelgard’s outfit is dominantly red with gold on the top’s collar, shoulders, and on the buttons.
Claude
Claude has become the leader of the Leicester Alliance. He laments on their class reunion being “the worst in history”, suggesting that he is the most reluctant to fight against his former classmates.
In terms of design, older Claude sports sideburns. His outfit consists of a light tan military-style coat with a gold pauldron on his left shoulder and a black half-cape on his right.
Dimitri
Dimitri has taken command of the Kingdom of Faerghus’ knights, though it is unknown whether he has been crowned king. This is because Dimitri has undergone a drastic change in his character. The once chivalrous prince has become a merciless warlord in the trailer.
The older Dimitri’s appearance differs from his younger self, perhaps to highlight the shift in his personality. His hair now appears to be longer and more unkempt compared to when he was still a student. He now wears an eye patch on his right eye, though no details were given as to where and how he lost half of his sight. Dimitri wears a black fur cape underneath his silver armor.
Other Scenes
A scene where Byleth brandishes his whip-like sword was also included in the trailer. His hair is also a noticeably pale shade of blue. It is mentioned by Sothis in the video that “both sides of time” are revealed to Byleth. This might mean that Byleth has tapped further into his powers, perhaps to prevent his three former students from fighting each other.
A character who resembles the Church of Seiros’ high priestess Rhea during her younger days was seen crossing swords with a mysterious armored warrior. An aging old man also appeared, saying “So the fell stone consumes even the darkness itself” as a mysterious caped figure seemingly harnesses the power of a crest.
