Velvet Room Features in Persona 5 Royal
Persona 5 Royal is set to implement more features in the Velvet Room. The location serves as an important facility to train and fuse persona for battle. The Morgana Report #5 and #6 videos revealed fusion alarm, incense, challenge battles, and the “special prison” not found in the original.
Fusion Alarm
More powerful persona can be created through fusion with the new fusion alarm mechanic. This results in the fused persona having better stats and skills than one created under regular conditions. A fused persona may also have an entirely new set of skills, based on the video.
Footage showed the persona Shiisaa’s two last skills changing into new ones during the fusion alarm event.
Ame-no-Uzume appeared in the next scene. After being created during a fusion alarm, the persona’s entire skill set changed.
Incense
Various types of incense can be burned in the Velvet Room during lockdown. Doing so causes the stats of persona in lockdown to increase.
Challenge Battle
A new feature called challenge battles can be accessed in the Velvet Room. Players will be pit against sets of enemies to earn high scores. Rare items can be obtained if players perform well in challenge battles.
Certain bonus conditions can also be met to increase the player’s score. Additional points, for instance, can be earned by defeating a set of enemies within a particular number of turns.
DLC Enemies
As confirmed in the Morgana Report #6 video, players will be able to fight the protagonists of Persona 3 and 4 in challenge battles. Makoto Yuki and Yu Narukami are set to appear as DLC enemies “Full Moon” and “Foggy Day” in this mode.
Each of the characters were seen using their iconic persona when fought in a challenge battle. Full Moon invoked Thanatos while Foggy Day summoned Izanagi.
Caroline and Justine Outside the Velvet Room
The Velvet Room attendant twins Caroline and Justine were seen with the player at Big Bang Burger. The Morgana Report #5 video referred to this new element as a “special prison.” It is worth noting that casual scenes with the twins were not featured in the original game.
