A perfectionist, Makoto has a strong sense of responsibility and refuses to yield to adversity. Similar to Fuuka Yamagishi and Yukiko Amagi, she is intelligent, honest, and very hardworking. She also has a compassionate side and reveals herself to be an understanding young lady. She works hard, making sure everyone is always accounted for.
Despite her serious and no-nonsense nature, she has her hidden vulnerabilities. One of these happens to be her fear of ghost stories. When the Phantom Thieves introduce themselves properly to Futaba Sakura, Makoto shows levels of anxiety. Given how Futaba likes her house dark and quiet, Makoto is reminded of a horror movie. When Futaba scares her out of nowhere, the girl yelps and clings to the Protagonist‘s leg. She begins gibbering, begging her sister to save her until she realizes that Futaba isn’t a ghost. Futaba herself finds this hilarious. Thus, she repeatedly teases Makoto about horror movies throughout the game.
However, beneath her calm exterior is a load of suppressed anger. This leaks out during her fights, in which Makoto displays her brutal method of fighting. Unfortunately for the team, it also shows in her brutal way of driving.
