Disaster Shadows
Disaster Shadows (or Kyouma) are powerful versions of normal shadows found in palaces throughout the main story. You can tell one from regular enemies by its ominous aura and penchant to mutter uncontrollably unlike the other shadows in combat. If damaged in battle, disaster shadow will immediately counterattack. This makes them very challenging to defeat without employing a good strategy.
Once defeated, the disaster shadow detonates and causes damage to its allies. The damage of the explosion depends on the amount of damage it takes which does not count damage through reflect or Despair. A good way to knock it out efficiently is to bring it down fast with attributes it’s weak against. You can also opt to cripple it with Sleep. Taking down disaster shadows rewards the player with sooty armor which can be sold at the vintage clothing store to earn money and store points.

Vintage Clothing Sooty Armor Shop
Apart from acquiring Sooty Armor from Disaster Shadows. They can also be bought at Kichijoji’s Used Clothing Shop. Similar to Dirty Equipment, obtained Sooty Armors can also be converted to Cleaned Armors. Also, you have the option to sell them at higher prices to Iwai depending on the quality of armor produced.

When a piece of sooty armor turned into cleaned armor, the actual kind of armor it will become is still random. Either the cleaned armor will become wearable across all characters or it is worn exclusively by male characters, female characters, or Mona only.
