Overview

Many features in Persona 5 Royal have an impact to the story and overall completion. In summary, you need to work on certain features to alter the outcome.

Confidants that lead to True Ending

Some of the confidants are closely tied to the outcome of the main story. Thus, if you aim for a certain ending, you need to satisfy some conditions first.

Consultant Confidant

The Consultant confidant should be the main focus in the story progression. To reach the needed route on the third semester, you need to raise the Consultant Confidant to rank 9 by the 17th of November.

Justice Confidant

In addition, the Justice confidant also has its deadline. By the same date mentioned above, you need to attain a Justice Confidant rank of 8. This is because when you reach the deadline with a rank below 8, you won’t be able to max it out. However, this confidant is mutually exclusive from the Consultant when you reach the deadline. In other words, you still unlock the third semester story if you reach a rank 9 with the Consultant confidant.

Confidant Rank Up

With the exception of the Consultant confidant which is necessary to reach the True Ending, you don’t need to max out confidants to progress the story. However, individual confidants each have their merits when maxed out on time.

Sun

Pay attention to the Sun confidant. The deadline for it is on November 13, and afterward, you won’t be able to raise it past the date.

Faith

Unlike the Sun confidant, if you fail to reach rank 5 of the Faith confidant by December 22, you will have to wait for it on the third semester.

Temperance

By the time you reach summer break, you won’t be able to do a mission request which takes place on campus. In fact, there is a long gap in between which prevents you from raising the Temperance confidant. Thus, the ideal route is to reach rank 9 before you start the Summer vacation. However, thorough planning needs to be done to get the confidant this high.

Palace Heists

Since items disappear after defeating the boss, prioritize on looting chests for treasures using lockpicks before the boss fight. Make sure to complete the Palace before the specified deadline. Do note that you can watch a special game over for each palace if you prefer.

Persona compendium

Fortunately, you can afford to miss some Shadows in heists. After failing to negotiate with Persona, you can find them later on in Mementos. In your first playthrough, it is not possible to fully complete the compendium because you’ll lack funds. Focus on

Rewards for the challenge battle

Challenge battle rewards are special in that upon claiming them, you won’t receive them again even after clearing it another round. This means that you can only receive one set of rewards for each file. Many special items can be obtained by completing the challenge battle. Aside from cash items, there are many other rewards from clearing it.
