The calling postcards can be mailed to gain a +1 confidant boost to any confidant of your choice. You can send postcards to a confidant by dropping them at postboxes near Yongen-Jaya theater or in front of the supermarket.

The effect of calling postcards is similar to the Fortune confidant’s Affinity Reading ability. Mailing a postcard at a mailbox does not expend action points. Because of their usefulness, it is recommended to hoard as many postcards as you can when they go on sale at Rocinante. Note that the stock of postcards replenishes every week.
