Persona 5 Royal - Morgana Report #2 Revealed New Combat and Other Features

Some of Atlus' information has been stolen once again by its very own Morgana! In Morgana Report #2, details on the new student, fan questions, palace, and combat were revealed.

Morgana Report # 2

In the new Morgana Report, Morgana breaks the fourth wall once again to spill the beans on the upcoming Persona 5 Royal. Morgana Report #2 was aired on June 14, 2019.

More Information on Kasumi Yoshizawa

Morgana began the report by reintroducing the new Phantom Thief, Kasumi Yoshizawa. Mona stated that there is hope for recruiting her as a Phantom Thief but he doesn’t know what it would take. He also assessed her exceptional skill as a rhythmic gymnast and has high hopes that she’d be a formidable ally in combat. Analyzing her combat data, Kasumi can deal with foes in both close quarters and ranged combat using the rapier and level-action pistol respectively. Kasumi’s persona, Cendrillon, specializes in using Blessing and Physical skills. Despite all these promising results, Morgana is uncertain if Kasumi would side with them or not.

Fan Questions

Morgana has also answered a couple of fan questions. He confirmed that a gallery mode will be added to Persona 5 Royal and also added that the Phantom Thieves will be getting new costumes. In addition, some new things are going to be added to the game regarding Goro Akechi, the prodigal young detective.

Palace and Battle Mechanics

Surpass Challenges to Snag Items

Morgana also gave a sneak peek into the new edition’s palaces and battles. The previously revealed “Kyouma” enemies aren’t anything to be taken lightly. They are powerful versions of enemies who will counterattack whenever hit. It might seem tempting to flee from battle, but thieves are encouraged to unleash everything they have to defeat “Kyouma.” Defeating one rewards the party with a rare item.

There are also collectibles which roughly translate to “stones.” These mysterious treasures are hidden around palaces and, once all of them collected they will transform into an accessory. These accessories differ from ordinary ones in that they grant use of a skill. Ryuji is shown using a healing spell to demonstrate, something that he was previously unable to do.

Ambush in Style

Previously, we’ve seen that the new grappling hook can be used to traverse the newly structured palaces. In the latest report, Morgana showed that the new grappling hook also doubles as a means to ambush enemies from afar. Instead of running up to them for a sneak attack, thieves can now grapple onto enemies and zip up to them.

New Gun Customization and Changes

Mona also showed that Mr. Iwai can now customize guns further. Guns can now acquire status ailment boosts which enable thieves to exploit Technical damage to the next level. Outside of the shop, the game also brings a quality of life change by allowing players to regain a full stock of ammunition after battles. Thieves can now mix and match various firearms to deal with pesky shadows.
