Persona 5 Royal - Takuto Maruki Character Trailer Presented New Cutscenes

Following his debut, Atlus Japan kept up with its collection of character trailers by covering Takuto Maruki. The trailer showed a couple of interactions between guidance counselor Takuto and the students of Shujin Academy.

Takuto Maruki’s Character Trailer Revealed

Around a month ago, Atlus Japan posted a new trailer featuring Takuto. As Shujin Academy’s guidance counselor, he watches over the goings-on around the school.

Dialogue at the school grounds

We first saw Takuto chime in during a discussion among the Phantom Thieves. He tries to convince the students to come for some counseling but faces a swift rejection from Ryuji. In an attempt to win their favor, Takuto bribes them with some candy which prompts Joker to make a decision. In the trailer, Joker gives in to the deal which causes Ann to scold him. From the looks of it, Joker’s gang does not seem to be comfortable with the counselor around.

Conversation at Inokashira Park

We later found Takuto interrupting the group once again during their turn to clean at Inokashira Park. Takuto tells the students that he is willing to join them. Ryuji maintained the same level of disinterest during the event. Before the conversation continued, a pair of girls interrupt them and requests Takuto join them in cooking duty. Takuto finally agrees and accompanies the girls. Here, we could see how Takuto strives to engage in a conversation with the members of the Phantom Thieves despite his first rejection.

Takuto tries to whip up a dish

After settling down, Takuto instructs the girls on how to cook some taro. He grabs a helping of salt and sprinkles it over a bubbling cauldron in a chef-like fashion to take out the skim on top. While one girl cheered him on, the other girl told the counselor that he overdid it. Takuto did not deny this and apologizes to them for his mistake. Despite his knowledge of cooking, Takuto did not seem to be capable of being “in-charge” here.

Persona 5 Royal will be available in Japan on October 31st this year. The Western and Asian releases are scheduled for 2020.
