Ann Takamaki’s P5R Character Reveal Showcased Her New Tag Team Attack, New Storyline Cutscenes, and New Abilities
Atlus Japan posted a new trailer last week featuring Ann Takamaki. Ann is a fellow second-year classmate of the Protagonist at Shujin Academy. She later joined the Phantom Thieves as their first female party member with the codename Panther.
New Storyline Cutscenes for Ann
There were three cutscenes that featured Ann’s storyline in the trailer.
One of the cutscenes included her assisting fellow Shujin Academy students in a clean-up activity at Inokashira Park. The park has been featured numerous times in previous trailers with other characters such as the Protagonist, Morgana, Ryuji Sakamoto, Yuuki Mishima, Makoto Niijima, and Kasumi Yoshizawa.
The next cutscene proceeded to Ann’s favorite hangout, the Shibuya Underground Mall. We saw her together with her best friend, Shiho Suzui. They were having a conversation about Shiho’s upcoming volleyball competition. We noticed that this cutscene happened on January 4th, but Shiho had already moved to another school by that time. A fan theory suggested that this might be a dream sequence similar to the Morgana Report #2 video showing Futaba Sakura’s mother, Wakaba, still alive. Otherwise, Shiho just signed-up to her new school’s volleyball team after transferring and is already competing at the high level.
The last cutscene featured Ann’s room together with the Protagonist. The nature of this event is currently unknown, as the details are rather sparse.
Tag Team Attack with Morgana
The first few seconds of the trailer teased us Ann’s tag team attack together with Morgana. Then, it continued in the last few seconds of the video.
The tag team attack started with Morgana making a confession to Ann. Then, both of them jumped toward each other in front of a backdrop of their faces drawn in a 90’s bishoujo art style.
We transitioned to both of them falling from above down to the enemy Inugami. Ann shot it with her two sub-machine guns while Morgana threw a bomb at it. The tag team attack damage was even higher than Ryuji and Yusuke’s.
New Abilities Teased
Lastly, Ann Takamaki’s character trailer showed her new “Overkill” ability.
Overkill appeared to be a skill that inflicts a charm status effect and its skill animation did not show a Persona. It looks like this will be a new Lover’s Confidant ability since her Rank 4 is currently blank. Also, the battle took place at Kaneshiro’s Palace, signifying that this might be an early Confidant ability.
Furthermore, we also noticed that the targeted enemy is Kurama Tengu. This Persona can only be encountered at Shido Palace. Persona 5 Royal might be attempting to re-assign enemy Persona across palaces for better challenges.
Persona 5 Royal will be available in Japan on October 31st this year. The Western and Asian release was scheduled for 2020.
