Mithras

People sometimes confuse Mithras with Mithra of the Devil Arcana. However, Mithras is a god of Mithraism. This mystery religion thrived in the Roman Empire. Before the arrival of Christianity, he appeared as a pagan god for the Romans. However, the similarity comes from the Persian worship of the deity Mithra.

Mithras may have come from other deities. The Sanskrit Mitra is the name of a god praised in the Rig Veda. The word itself means “friend” or “friendship.” In other works, the deity’s name is a term for covenant. While he appears differently in different cultures, some historians say that this deity may have been a single entity with different concepts.
