Vishnu

Vishnu is a god in Hinduism. As one of the primary deities, he is known to be kind and caring towards humans. Another name Vishnu has is the “Preserver.” He is one of the primordial gods of Hinduism along with Brahman, the Creator, and Shiva, the Destroyer.

Vishnu appears in the Vedic texts where he assists Indra in defeating Vrita. When he does so, Vishnu creates his own religion known as the Vaishnavism. This religion focuses on worshiping Vishnu alone and taking all of his words into account.

Due to his position as the Preserver, he is responsible for holding the world in balance. However, when Judgement day comes, he will return to the world as his final avatar. In doing so, he separates the good and evil before beginning the destruction of the old world. His destroying of the old world with Shiva will usher in a new world with Brahman. He normally is seen riding on Garuda or sleeping on the back of a Naga, Ananta.
