Anubis

The Egyptian deity of mummification. He acts as the overseer of mummification. Priests adapted the practice, by wearing the mask of Anubis, to act on his behalf during burial rites of pharaohs.

Since he presides over the burial, his main duty is to look after the departed. He weighs the hearts of the dead with a scale, making sure that only those whose hearts are as light as a feather will be permitted to cross.
