Kushinadahime

Kushinadahime is a figure from Shino Religion. She is the daughter of Ashi-nadzuchi and Te-nadzuchi. As the daughter of the two Earthly deities, she had to be sacrificed to Yamata no Orochi. However, Susano-o declared he would slay the creature. In return, he wanted to marry Kushinadahime.

To begin the battle, he transformed the young lady into a comb. Her parents brought out bowls filled with sake to lure the snake. When the eight-headed snake showed up, it drank all the sake until it got wasted. Seeing his opportunity, Susano-o stepped in and cleaved all eight heads off before chopping it to pieces. After that, he tore the monster’s belly open to pick up the Kusanagi no Tsurugi.

After defeating the creature, he married Kushinadahime and set up a shrine for her. Her father then became the head of the shrine.
