Lachesis

The middle sister of the Fates, Lachesis works with her sisters Clotho and Atropos. Her name in Greek means the disposer of lots and is derived from the word lachano. Lachano means “to obtain by lot, by fate, or by the will of the gods.” She is the one who measures Clotho‘s string and technically, is the decider of Fates. She is also one of the Moirai like her two sisters. In Roman mythology, her counterpart is Decima.

Lachesis, being the middle sister, can have a say when Atropos can cust the string. In literature, she is the daughter of Erebus and Nyx. Other accounts say she is the daughter of Zeus and Themis.
