Pisaca

Its name is a product of the demonized Hindu tribes. This persona is a demon which feeds on human flesh, specifically by scavenging corpses. Its grotesque appearance is comparable to Rakshasa, with Pisacas serving as the incarnation of ignis fatuus.

Similar to Bhutas and Vetalas, Pisacas prefer dim areas and roaming along cremation grounds. They can morph into varying figures at will. In addition, they have the power to drive a human into insanity through possession, causing them to feast on the flesh of corpses. Some mantras can be used to ward off a Pisaca from its victim. Certain offerings during religious rites also work to keep them at bay.
