Crowned as The Lord of the Flies, Beelzebub traces its root from the Philistine deity Baal Zebub. Accounts mention that this devil is identical to Satan.

Scholars have noted that his origin, spelled as ‘ba’al zebul,’ was made as a mockery of Baal. This went as far as mentioning the pagan god Baal as a pile of waste and illustrating his disciples as a swarm of flies that cling to the waste. Catholic demonology included him as part of the three fallen angels. He is the deceiver of those guilty of the one or more of the following sins: idolatry, pride, envy, and gluttony.
